Inzamam-ul-Haq on Wednesday announced his decision to retire as Pakistan's chief coach when his contract expires on July 31.
Former Pakistan captain Inzamam, who was appointed to the position in April 2016, oversaw a period that included Pakistan's victory in the Champions Trophy two years ago.
Inzamam's last task was to select Pakistan's squad for the World Cup, where the team led by Sarfaraz Ahmed finished fifth in the group stage and could not qualify for the semifinals.
"After more than three years as chairman of the Pakistan men's selection committee, I decided not to seek a renewal of my contract," Inzamam, 49, said in a statement.
"With the ICC World Testing Championships, which will begin in September, the ICC T20 World Cup in 2020 and the ICC 2023 Men's Cricket World Cup, I believe the time is right for the Pakistan Cricket Board to name a new main coach who can bring new ideas and new ideas. "
During Inzamam's term, players such as Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Abbas, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi and Usman Shinwari made their international debut, while Babar Azam was established as Pakistan's batting pillar in The three game formats.
"It has been a pleasure to see these players grow and make names in international cricket," Inzamam added.
"I will follow your progress with interest because I firmly believe that these players have all the ingredients to take the Pakistan cricket team to great heights."
