Tamim Iqbal replaced the injured Mashrafe Bin Mortaza as captain of Bangladesh for the one-day International series in Sri Lanka.

Mashrafe's injury also led the Bangladesh Cricket Board or the BCB to announce the inclusion of the Taskin Ahmed pacemaker, as well as the full Farhad Reza in the squad on Friday.

Opening batter Tamim led the team in a test match against New Zealand in 2017 when the then test captain, Mushfiqur Rahim, was out for an injury.

Debuted in 2007, left-handed Tamim had also worked as vice-captain twice. He led different teams in domestic cricket.

Shakib Al Hasan and batter Liton Das have already rested in the series, Bangladeshi players will go to Sri Lanka on Saturday to play three ODIs on July 26, 28 and 31 after an adjustment match on July 23.

Bangladesh previously remembered the spinner Taijul Islam and the batter Anamul Haque for the series.
